Terms of use
Last updated October 2026 · Privacy policy →
1. Introduction and description of service
Fairpiece helps a group of people split shared expenses by receipt and item rather than equally. You create a bill, add the people in it by name, add its receipts — by hand or by scanning a photo — and the items on them, tick who had what, and the application calculates everyone's share down to the cent and shows who owes whom. You send the result yourself, with a link or as a PDF, and you can mark who has paid you back. The application is available for iOS and Android and in the browser at fairpiece.com.
Fairpiece is provided by Dmytro Shraho, an individual entrepreneur registered in Ukraine ("we", "us"). These Terms of use are an agreement between you and us. By accessing or using Fairpiece, you agree to them.
2. Not a payment service
- Fairpiece does not move money, does not hold funds and is not a bank, payment or accounting service. People settle up with each other themselves, outside the application. A mark that someone has paid you back is only a note for you: it does not confirm or record a payment.
- Shares are calculated only from the receipts, amounts and ticks entered into the bill. Check the numbers before you pay or ask someone to pay you.
- Disagreements about who owes what are between the people in the bill. We do not take part in them and are not responsible for payments made or not made between users.
3. Accounts
- You can start using the application without signing in; an anonymous session is created for you, and its bills are kept until you delete them.
- To buy Pro, you sign in with Apple, Google or a one-time code sent to your email address. Signing in also keeps your bills across devices.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your account and devices secure and for everything done through them.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Fairpiece.
4. User responsibilities
- You are responsible for the bills, names, payment details, notes and photos you add, and they must be accurate and lawful.
- Send the link to a bill only to people who would expect to hear from you, and do not use the application to send spam.
- Do not put in a bill anything you are not entitled to share with anyone who has its link.
- Do not use Fairpiece for anything unlawful or fraudulent, or in a way that infringes other people's rights, including intellectual property rights.
- Do not attempt to bypass the paywall, entitlement checks or usage limits, reverse engineer the service, scrape it, access it through automated clients, probe or test its security, or upload malware.
5. Bills and links
- The person who creates a bill is its owner. Only the owner sees and edits the bill, marks who has paid them back and can delete it. The people in a bill are names the owner enters; they need no account.
- Anyone who has the link to a bill can view it without an account: its title, date, currency, payment details, receipts with their payers, items, amounts, who had what, participant names and totals. Who has paid the owner back and the owner's payment notes are not shown by a link or in a PDF.
- A bill has one link for its whole life. The link and every personal link of the bill stop working only when the bill is deleted.
6. Free use and Pro
- Without Pro you can create bills, add participants, receipts and items by hand, see the totals, mark who has paid you back and share the whole bill with a link or as a PDF. The application shows ads, and a short rewarded video plays before the sharing options for the whole bill open. In the iOS and Android application, screens that show shares cannot be captured in a screenshot without Pro.
- Pro adds scanning of receipts with AI, up to 30 scans an hour.
- Pro adds photos attached to receipts.
- Pro adds personal reports: one person's check, a personal link and a personal PDF.
- Pro removes ads and the video before sharing.
- Pro is offered as a monthly or a yearly auto-renewing subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. They grant identical access and differ only in billing and price. There is no free trial, neither in the application nor on the website. Lifetime is a single payment without renewals that gives your account Pro for as long as we provide Fairpiece.
- Pro can be bought and restored only while you are signed in. It is tied to your account and works on all your devices and on the website where you are signed in to that account, wherever you bought it.
7. Purchases, billing, renewal and cancellation
- In the application. Pro bought in the iOS or Android application is sold and billed by the app store you installed it from, Apple App Store or Google Play, under its own terms, and not by us directly. Restore in the application moves a purchase made with your store account to the account you are signed in to; the account that held it before loses Pro.
- On the website. Our order process on the website is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders on the website: Paddle sells Pro to you, charges your payment method, calculates and collects sales tax or VAT, issues your invoice or receipt, and handles payment questions, cancellations and refunds. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the purchase in addition to these Terms. A purchase made on the website stays with the account that was signed in when you bought it.
- Prices and taxes. In the application, the app store shows the price before purchase in your local currency; it may differ by country and over time. On the website, prices are shown in US dollars: $2.99 a month, $29.99 a year, or $49.99 for lifetime. At checkout Paddle shows the final amount — in US dollars or converted into your local currency — together with any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, before you pay. You are charged the amount shown at checkout; your bank may add its own fees.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for another period of the same length (a month or a year) at the price then in effect, until you cancel. In the application, payment is charged to your store account when you confirm the purchase, and the subscription renews unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your store account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. On the website, Paddle charges your payment method when you buy and then at the start of each new period.
- Cancellation. In the application, manage or cancel a subscription in your store account settings (App Store, Google Play). On the website, open Profile → Manage subscription, which leads to Paddle's customer portal, or use the link in Paddle's email about your purchase, or paddle.net. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the application or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Price changes. We may change the price of Pro for future periods. You will be told in advance by the app store, by Paddle or by us, and where the law requires your consent, it will be asked for. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Refunds and the right of withdrawal are described in the Refund policy: purchases made on the website are refunded by Paddle, purchases made in the application by Apple or Google under their own policies. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
- If we materially change what Pro includes, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel before the change takes effect.
8. Advertising
- Users without Pro see ads served by Google: a card in the list of bills on the phone and on narrow screens, tiles in the sidebar on a desktop browser, banners on pages opened by a link, and a rewarded video before the sharing options for the whole bill open.
- If an ad cannot be loaded, sharing opens without it. Where the law requires it, ads are shown according to the choice you make in the consent form. Details are in the Privacy policy.
9. AI limitations
- Receipt scanning is performed by an AI model and may misread the shop, items or amounts.
- A scan creates a draft. Check it against the paper receipt before you save it; the application shows when the items do not add up to the printed total.
- We are not responsible for incorrect amounts that were saved without checking.
- Scanning depends on third-party AI infrastructure that can be slow or temporarily unavailable.
10. Intellectual property
The application and its content, including text, graphics, design and software, are our intellectual property; these Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use them for as long as you use Fairpiece. You retain ownership of the bills, payment details, notes and photos you add, and grant us a limited licence to store, process and show them to the people you share the bill with, in order to operate the service. We do not sell your content and do not use it to advertise to you.
11. Limitation of liability
We are not responsible for losses caused by mistakes in the data entered into a bill, by a misread scan that was saved without checking, or by payments between users. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights. We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
12. Suspension, termination and data deletion
- We may suspend or terminate an account that materially or repeatedly breaks these Terms, that is used for fraud or puts the security of the service or other users at risk, or whose payment was reversed by a chargeback without a valid reason.
- You can stop using Fairpiece at any time and delete your account under Profile → Delete account. The bills you created are permanently deleted with everything in them. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription and does not by itself refund amounts already paid. Cancel the subscription in your app store or, for a purchase on the website, under Profile → Manage subscription or at paddle.net.
13. Apple App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded the application from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the application and its content.
- Your right to use the application is limited to Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the application.
- If the application fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the application.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the application, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the application.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded the application from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of Google Play and to purchases made through it.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there. If something goes wrong, please contact us first — most problems can be solved quickly.
15. Modifications
We may update these Terms of use as needed. Changes will be communicated via the application, and the date above shows the latest version; material changes are announced before they take effect. If you do not agree with the revised terms, you can stop using Fairpiece, cancel your subscription and delete your account. Continued use of the application after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
16. Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms of use, please contact us at support@fairpiece.com.
